OUR STAFF:
 |
Our Camp Director, Anne Hope, is a talented Jewish educator with an extensive background in camping. Anne’s goal is for every camper to find a home at Herzl Camp. Anne leads our camp with the philosophy that time spent in creative play, exploring nature and trying new things builds a camper’s confidence and independence. Success at camp leads to better school performance, closer ties to family and friends and a deeper connection to Judaism and Israel. |
 |
Our Assistant Director, Sarah Gruesner, is ready to help you register and navigate the
ins-and-outs of camp! Sarah oversees our summer office and the many specialty areas at camp during the summer. Sarah has worked full-time for Herzl since 2004 and she can answer any and all of your camp questions. |
 |
Drea Lear has a long history at Herzl Camp, beginning as a camper in 1994. After many years as a camper and staff, Drea is at camp full-time leading our bunk staff. Drea's goal is to ensure that your child has the time of their life at Herzl Camp this summer! |
OUR SUMMER STAFF:
Anne, Drea and Sarah hand-select our summer staff with your child’s growth and development in mind. Nearly all our staff were Herzl Campers themselves. As alumni, they guard tradition and camper experiences carefully. Their job is to provide the kind of life-changing experience to today’s campers that they experienced themselves. Each summer, our program is enriched with at least four Israeli staff from the Summer Shlichim program, all have extensive training in areas ranging from child development to making learning fun.
Before the first camper arrives and throughout the summer, our staff participate in training in a wide range of areas including: creating and running effective programs, building self-esteem, group management, conflict resolution, recognizing and preventing abuse, Jewish practice, Herzl customs, and emergency protocols. Our staff includes certified lifeguards, first-aiders, and CPR providers.
Our Medical Staff:
Your camper’s health and well-being is our top priority at Herzl Camp. We have licensed nurses and physicians on site in our infirmary 24/7 to ensure that your camper’s needs are met while they are away from home.
Our Expert Staff:
To enrich our camp programs, local and national experts come to camp regularly. Musicians, athletes, Rabbis, youth leaders, authors, educators, and artists give the campers a different view of the world and a chance to learn new skills while at camp.
OUR LEADERSHIP:
Herzl Camp is an independent 501c3 non-profit organization that is led by a community-based Board of Directors. Our Board provides strategic vision and leadership and countless hours of volunteer service in their individual areas of expertise. Most of our board members are alumni, camper parents or grandparents and/or former staff. We engage their talents to build a better camp each and every summer.
