Each camper chooses four activities called Chugim to participate in each day while at camp. Choose the ones you love or try something new! At Herzl Camp, we specialize in creative programming so there’s always a twist and it’s always unique!

Amanut (Arts & Crafts) Classics
Get in touch with your creative side. This chug will give you an opportunity to create some awesome camp creations. We will be tie-dyeing, doing lanyard work, making candles, and tons of other fun projects. If you want to get your hands dirty with some artistic classics and new ideas then this is the chug for you. What’s better than getting to make something that you can bring home to remind you of camp all year round?! |
J*Amanut (Arts & Crafts)
Amanut…with a Jewish spin! In this chug we will be making some great Judaic items while finding out about some influential Jewish artists. This isn’t your typical candle making and challah cover decorating (though we’ll get to do those too!). Instead, we’ll be getting really creative with some handmade shabbos candlesticks, havdalah sets, and lots more. Be creative with your Judaism and make it your own! |
| Painting & Drawing
Have you ever taken a look at a painting and thought, “I wonder if I can do that?” In Drawing & Painting chug you can! In this chug you will not only be creating some great 2-dimensional designs with a variety of different media, but you’ll also learn about movements and artists. From Modern art like Pablo Picasso, to Comic booking like Stan Lee, Drawing & Painting with stretch your creativity to new heights! |
Movie Making
In Movie Making Chug campers will collaborate with each other and the staff to create a short film. Campers will each get a different role (directors, actors, producers, etc) and use designated times to prepare their aspect of the movie. In addition to the logistical planning and shooting of the movie, campers will also prepare by playing improve games, participating in writing exercises for brainstorming and giving each other feedback on the different aspects of the production. This chug will teach campers the basics of what goes in to making a self produced short film and teach and improve skills like working with others on collaborative projects, creative writing, improve comedy, and time management. They will also get a brief overview of camera work, staging of actors, and digital editing. |
| Herzl Camp Hakshivu - Summer Edition
Extra, extra, write all about it! You will have the opportunity to tell the Herzl community everything that is going on at camp by publishing the Herzl Camp newspaper.

| Pop Dance You like to pop and lock? Spend your time learning new dance moves, teaching your own dance moves to your friends, and performing a choreographed dance for camp at the end of the session! |
Boys Pop Dance
Pop your collar and Drop it likes it’s hot! Learn the hottest POP dance moves and then show the camp what you have learned with a performance on the last day. |

Israeli Dancing is done all over the world! Learn these high spirited dances so that you can help teach your friends! |
| Comedy Sports (Improv)
In the improv chug, campers will learn what improv comedy is and how to participate in improv games and scenes. Throughout the chug they will play games, discuss how to make improv fun, funny and effective, and create short and long scenes. The first section of the chug will deal with Improv games. Campers will learn four to five improv games and play recreationally and competitively until they feel comfortable enough to move on to short and long scenes. The second section then will deal with scene work and will focus on how to effectively set up and improv scene, character work, and if they are confident enough, music. |

Whether you are the next Zac Efron or Ashley Tisdale, this is the chug for you! Improvisation, mime and story-telling are just a few of the dramatic activities you will get to work on throughout the summer. |
| Guitar
Have you always wanted to learn how to play the guitar or enhance the skills that you already have? Do you think you might be the next Bob Dylan? Well, this is the perfect chug for you! In this chug, you will have the opportunity to work with the Rosh Shira to perfect your performing skills. This chug works with guitar players of all levels. Herzl Camp has guitars to use, so do not worry about bringing your own! |

Do you ever wonder why some songs make it to #1 and some don’t? What makes a great song? This chug will explore the history of music through the decades and is definite choice for music lovers! |
Rock Band
Do you want a chance to be the next big thing in Rock Music? Are you the next Slash? Kurt Cobain? Trey Anastasio? Jam out during the day with the rest of your band mates and perform for the whole camp at Ruach Fest! |
RUACH (song leading)
If you want to learn the words to the most popular songs sung at Herzl Camp each day, this is the chug for you! Learn to sing Od Yavo Shalom, The Hope and other Herzl classics. Your group will even get to lead a song session in front of the entire camp after lunch! |
