Capital Campaign

this week...

This week?  Well, this week, we have 764 campers enjoying our amazing new facilities!  So no construction to report on at camp right now - just friendships being created, new skills being learned, and lots of old-style ruach!!

If you are just tuning in now, we broke ground on the first phase of construction in Winter 2009-10.  We raised $4 million in 2009 and used those dollars to build 15 new cabins, a new showerhouse, a rebuild and expanded Mercaz (outdoor synagogue), an accessible waterfront and new docks. This phase also included most of the regulatory and architectural fees and the rough electrical, plumbing and sewage for the full project.

In Winter 2010-11, we raised an additional $2 million and build the final 10 new cabins, expanded our Staff Moadon and staff office space, and built a new Ozo Mo. Summer 2011 marked the first summer in modern history that every camper lived in a safe, modern, comfortable cabin!

Currently, we are just $900,000 shy of what's needed to complete the most critical construction.

This Fall, we will be assessing the rest of our capital needs and determining how to move forward over the next few years.  The areas we have identified for future construction are:

  • Expand Amanut and make it accessible.
  • Add staff housing including a cabin for the Director and for staff with families (Rabbis, teachers, etc)
  • Expand the Marpeah to accomodate a larger camp and to make it accessible.
  • Add a fourth and final Haks, bringing camp fully up to code and doubling our pre-construction bathroom and shower facilities.

Stayed tuned for new pictures and updates on our progress
